Job Summary: The Aerospace Engineering Technician assists with the design, development, testing, and fielding of aerospace systems.
Additional Department Summary: The Aerospace Engineering Technician is in the Remote Sensing Center on the University of Alabama’s Tuscaloosa campus. This position will involve intensive and rapid design, traditional and composite construction, and integration of aerospace, science, and electrical systems into high performance aircraft and surface vehicles.
Required Minimum Qualifications: Vocational/Technical/Trade School certificate and five (5) years of aerospace, electrical, or electronic experience; or Associate's degree and four (4) years of aerospace, electrical, or electronic experience; or Bachelor's degree and two (2) years of aerospace, electrical, or electronic experience.
Skills and Knowledge: Must be comfortable working in an engineering laboratory setting. Must have strong interaction and communication skills between scientists, engineers, and students; must be proficient in Microsoft Word and Outlook; and CAD or technical drawing experience in CATIA, SolidWorks, or equivalent is required.
Preferred Qualifications: Previous experience with aircraft certification, FAA field approval experience (e.g. Form 337) is desired; experimental aircraft operation or construction, and an A&P license or training is beneficial. CNC experience is beneficial.
